The Student Council is a statutory body which was formed in an effort to give all students in Secondary Institutions, as well as Junior High, a voice at the highest level in their school’s education system. It is the highest leadership at the student level. The Council has its established Constitution which governs over the Body, setting guidelines for both student leaders and for staff advisors to ensure the integrity of its members.
It is the standard on which each and every student has rights and where there is an infringement on those rights, the Council’s onus is to represent that student. The Council’s actions are based upon truth and it is this truth that enables the Council to effectively represent students.
The Student Council Staff Advisers are teachers Ms Marguerite Anderson and Mrs Patricia Gilkes.
The Council has spearheaded a number of activities and projects in aid of the students mostly, and in aid of the school and community in general. The most recent is the face-lift given to the students’ bathrooms for the opening of the new term in January 2019. The surprise of all the students when they greeted the cheerful paintwork and the male and female door symbols for the two bathrooms were indicators of the students’ delight and appreciation.
